Senna tablets can be used to restore regularity faster by consuming plenty of water and fiber. Senna is available in several strengths. A 15mg dose can be taken orally. It increases gut muscle activitiy and improves digestion.

Water is absorbed by the colon as food passes through it. This leaves behind stool. To move the stool towards the rectum, the colon muscles contract in waves-like motion. The stool is solid when it reaches the rectum. This happens because most of its water has been absorbed. If the large intestine muscles become sluggish, the colon may absorb too much water, which can cause the stool to become hard and painful, leading to difficult and painful bowel movements. Constipation can lead to anal fissures, hemorhoids, rectal prolapse and fecal impaction if left untreated.

There are several ways to avoid constipation.

Drinking water at least 2.2 L per day (between 26 and 35 grams/day)

If constipation is caused by dry, hard stool, a laxative can be combined with a stool softener to provide relief. The stool softener helps to soften the stool and assists in the movement of the waste through the colon.

Everybody has a different normal bowel movement. Some people have it three times per day, while others go three times per week. Normal is about quality, not quantity. Constipation can be characterized by discomfort, straining, pushing and other symptoms.
