MaxioCel is a sterile, absorbent gelling fibre wound dressing made from 100% chitosan. Featuring Bioactive Microfibre Gelling (BMG) technology, this primary dressing transforms into a cohesive gel matrix when in contact with wound exudate, helping to maintain a moist wound environment.

Chitosan is a naturally occurring biopolymer derived from chitin, sourced from shellfish. The dressing is processed to remove protein material, purified, and sterilised using gamma irradiation to ensure sterility.

This larger 15cm x 15cm size is suitable for covering more extensive wound areas or for cutting to size for multiple smaller applications.

Directions for Use

Cleanse the wound following local guidelines or as directed by your healthcare provider. Apply MaxioCel directly to the wound surface using aseptic technique. Either side of the dressing may be placed against the wound. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing based on wound exudate levels and location. For removal, irrigate with sterile saline solution and gently lift the dressing away. Refer to the Instructions for Use included with the product for detailed guidance.

Dressing Change Frequency

MaxioCel may remain in place for up to 7 days depending on wound condition and exudate levels. Dressing change frequency should be determined by a healthcare professional based on individual wound assessment.

Single Use: MaxioCel is for single use and single patient use only. Once opened, any unused portion of the dressing should be discarded. Do not re-sterilise.

Secondary Dressing Required: MaxioCel is a primary dressing and requires a secondary dressing to secure it in place. Select an appropriate secondary dressing based on wound exudate levels.

Shellfish Derived: MaxioCel is derived from shellfish sources. As a precaution, this product is not recommended for use in individuals with known allergies to chitosan. There have been no reported allergic reactions associated with chitosan-based wound dressings; however, patients with shellfish allergies should consult their healthcare provider before use.
